Hello everyone!

After more than a year with this blog that came up to keep everyone together after our old friend from atleti.wordpress.com has disappeared.
Due to work and study it was becoming tough to keep the blog updated on a regular basis and we decided to stop this blog for an undetermined time.

But it won’t matter much, once our friends GaryMadrid and KillickThere are going great with their blog. We can all move to there.. Hope to see everyone there… :)

Copa del Rey: Atletico vs Celta Vigo

Posted by Mohammed on January 21, 2010

After the great triumph against Recre, we face Celta Vigo in the quarter final.  The first leg will be played at The Vicente Calderon, which means that we have to finish this match with a good win to prevent any setback when we play the second leg.

Forlan, A. Lo and Reyes look doubtful for today’s game. Assuncao is suspended.

So, the team will mostly look like this:

De Gea; Ujfalusi, Dominguez, Perea, Valera(?); Camacho, Raul Garcia, Simao, Jurado; Kun and Ibrahima

Let’s hope for another beautiful performance and a good result….. AUPA ATLEEEETI !!!!

El Derbi Madrileño

Posted by rojiblanco17 on November 6, 2009

Here it is again! The only match in Spain that really matters. El Derbi Madrileño, the derby of Madrid.
Club Atlético de Madrid S.A.D. – Real Madrid Club de Fútbol

A match that always was defined between two different cultures. The large club of the rich peoples, Real Madrid, the establishment club from the aristocrats. The Bernabeu, located between the banks in the business district. Atletico, with the Vicente Calderon next to a brewery, the club of the hardworking people, the club of the labourers.

The two teams couldn’t start more differently. Real bought and buought, spent hundreds of millions on new players and a new coach, all thanks to the new chairman. Atléti had to pay attention to every euro, looking for the bargains on the transfer market. The season start also couldn’t be any different. Real didn’t give Barca any space to slip away and the difference with leader Barcelona is just 1 point.

How different for Atlético. We started out in total drama which soon led to the firing of Resino. Coach for half a year. Now QSF has taken over (an ex-Real player..) to get things going again. After the good game against Bilbao and Chelsea there is a sparkle of hope again. The difference with Barca? 16 points.

The last time that we won in the Vicente was back in 98/99.

In the derby there is always special attention for the club hoppers that had a past with the opposition. Tomorrow there will be two players. Jose (Antonio Reyes) and Jose (Manuel Jurado). The first one shall always be a bit of a hero for the whites for getting them La Liga in the final game in 06/07.

The statistics:
Atlético won 35 times, Real 77 times and 31 encounters ended in a draw.

Enough with the talk, lets thrash the bastards  :)

AUPA ATLETI!

A New Beginning: Athletic Club vs Atletico de Madrid

Well, I won’t say much. It’s our first league game with Quique Flores in charge, and it’s away against Athletic Bilbao.  San Mames is never an easy stadium, so, let’s hope things go well.

Quique has been working on the team’s physical and mental status with his comments and sessions.  I don’t know to what extent will this work in the little amount of time he had with the team. but I hope that we can see a change in performance, at least.

Here’s hoping for a win.

Abel is out, Quique Flores is in.

Posted by Will on October 23, 2009

Abel ResinoQuique FloresAfter 1 win in 10 official matches Abel could not resist and has been sacked.

He’ll be substituted by Quique Sanchéz Flores. Flores has left Benfica in June after a 3rd place in the Portuguese.

Reyes is probably very happy with this change and I think it could improve the team as a whole. A change was needed and Quique Flores isn’t a bet. He already had opportunities to show his good work and let’s see how things work. Read the rest of this entry »
