Heitinga has left the building.

Well, that was that. The final day of the transferperiod and we are without a good right back.

Heitinga will leave after playing only a single season where he couldn’t make a big impression. He failed as a centre back but settled in as a right back, although he never was a real fullback.

I love the Atletico board though. Half of the squad had to leave, hardly anyone is gone and even if they are, we hardly got any cash for them! And now Heitinga, sold for 3 million euros less than for what Atleti bought him a year ago.

No replacement on the right side, now what? Perea on the right side? That means no offensive danger there.. Valera then? Oh wait, he can’t defend..we have lost a lot of quality on the right side now. (I’ll always dream of Cesar Azpilicueta as right back but it will probably always stay a dream..)

I never was a fan of Heitinga to be honest but I’ve learned to value him for his mentality and drive. Good luck at Everton John.

Sergio Asenjo is in!

Finally, finally finally.

After a long period of uncertainty and doubt, Atléti finally snaps Asenjo up. Diego Costa will be involved in the transfer and it is possible that Camacho will be too. Let’s hope not. Camacho will be unavailable for the next 2 months though, because of a knee operation.

The goalie-transfersoap comes to an end with this, but it leaves me with a couple of questions. What will happen to De Gea? Should Camacho be included in the deal (only if it is for a loan)?
